Expert Lightning Protection Testing and Reliable Lightning Protection

At LRL Services, we specialise in providing comprehensive lightning protection systems designed to safeguard your buildings, infrastructure, and equipment from the devastating effects that can occur as a result of the 300,000 lightning strikes that occur on average each year in the UK. Whether you own a commercial property, industrial facility, or residential building, our expert team delivers custom-designed solutions that prioritise safety, reliability, and compliance with the latest standards.

Why lightning protection matters?

Lightning strikes can cause severe damage to buildings, electrical systems, and even pose a significant risk to lives. The unpredictable nature of lightning means that without proper protection, you risk costly repairs, downtime, and potentially devastating safety hazards.

Our lightning protection systems provide:

  • Effective Protection: Prevent lightning from causing structural damage, fires, or electrical surges.
  • Safety First: Keep your employees, clients, and family safe from lightning-related accidents.
  • Compliance & Standards: Our systems comply with the latest industry standards and regulations BS EN 62305, ensuring your protection is not only effective but also legally sound.

Comprehensive lightning protection systems.

System Design & Installation

We design tailored lightning protection systems based on your property’s size, structure, and specific needs. Our certified engineers assess your building and create a detailed installation plan that ensures maximum safety and compliance.

Our services include:

  • Lightning Rods & Air Terminals: Strategically placed to intercept lightning strikes.
  • Conductors & Grounding: Conduct electrical charges safely into the ground to prevent damage.
  • Surge Protection: Install surge protection devices to safeguard electrical equipment and appliances.

Testing & Inspection

A lightning protection system should have regular inspections and testing to ensure that the system is fully operational and provides the necessary protection against lightning strikes. Section 5 of the Electricity at Work Act states a Lightning Protection System should be visually inspected and tested at regular fixed intervals of 12 months of less.

Regular annual inspections and testing can help to identify early issues  before they turn into major problems or safety hazards, ensure the system is compliant with the industry regulations BS EN 62305 and maximise the system lifespan.

After a detailed inspection and testing, we provide you with a full report on the condition of your lightning protection system including official certification.

Maintenance & Repairs

A lightning protection system is only effective if it’s properly maintained. Lightning protection systems are exposed to the elements year-round and can degrade over time due to corrosion, wear, or accidental damage. A system that isn’t properly maintained may fail to provide adequate protection when lightning strikes, potentially leading to costly damage, power surges, or safety risks.

Risk Assessment

A Lightning Risk Assessment is a systematic evaluation that helps determine the potential risk of lightning strikes to your property and identifies the necessary steps to mitigate these risks. By analysing factors such as building height, location, and local weather conditions, we can recommend the appropriate level of protection to prevent damage, fires, or safety hazards caused by lightning.
